Anita Phillips has extensive experience as a family and estate law lawyer. She has a particular expertise in negotiating and drafting domestic contracts and in developing estate plans for clients with blended families and for business owners.
Anita’s family law practice focuses primarily on negotiated settlements, with a particular emphasis on marriage contracts, cohabitation agreements and separation agreements.
In her estate law practice, Anita advises clients on how best to protect their estate for their intended beneficiaries with multiple wills and trusts. Anita has assisted executors (estate trustees) with the administration of estates of varying degrees of complexity.
A founding partner of Morgan and Phillips LLP, Anita was called to the bar in Ontario in 1992. She studied Psychology and Sociology at Queen’s University before earning her law degree from University of Toronto Law School. Anita’s focus as a lawyer has always been on family and estate law. Her particular expertise is in assisting her clients to negotiate out-of-court settlements, in developing estate plans that minimize conflict, taxes and costs, and in helping estate trustees with sensitivity and efficiency. Born and raised in Toronto, Anita now makes her home with her family in Oakville. She is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
